GLISPIRITI ICORPI ELEMENTI

A free download from their website and I cannot understand why the highly esteemed reviewer Psarros is the only one here who has bothered reviewing this album and that was back in 2008. Downloading and listening to this album is better than pest, starvation and being made homeless.

Vieux Carre is are relative new band (see interview) and they are still going strong. A new album is in the oven. Which is positive news because this band is most certainly up to something good, if Glispiriti Icorpi Elementi is taken into account.

Glispiriti Icorpi Elementi is a very varied album with a variety of styles. From art rock aka Roxy Music via Genesis & Yes adoration to jazz/fusion. This album is most definate on the arty side of the RPI scene. The very good sound is also very modern without moog and melotron. In short; this is not a Banco or Le Orme copycat. The instruments are tangents and electric guitars. Unfortunate; the very good vocals are both in Italian and in English. Please, please stick to Italian next time around. The Italian vocals reminds me about Angelo Branduardi.

The songs are all very good and well crafted. There are no real excellent or even signature tracks here. Neither is there any really weak tracks too. This album, with this good front cover, is a very solid debut album and a far better debut album than most debut albums from this scene. I really enjoys this album and recommends it to everyone into sophisticated symph/art/ RPI. And remember; it is free.
