4 stars Cave In is another one of those excellent bands that I've learned about while being a collaborator on the Prog Metal Team here on ProgArchives. Originally, I wasn't all that impressed with the band's direction while listening to their later releases like Antennas or White Silence. Luckily, things quickly turned for the better once I discovered Jupiter!

This is one of those amazing albums that get stuck in one's head from the first time you hear it and plants the seeds for the repeated listens. Beyond the glorious opening title track which I feel is way too short for it's good, there are quite a few other highlights well worth checking out. In The Stream Of Commerce was another early highlight that that really stood out during the initial spins of the record and I would highly recommend this track for anyone who is otherwise unfamiliar with Cave In and their sound.

Even if the rest of the album is not as catchy at first, repeated spins will make you realize just how gorgeous performances on tracks like Innuendo And Out The Other and Requiem really are, which in return will make you realize how well this album holds together as a whole. It is the lengthy compositions like these two that are the undisputed heroes of Jupiter and feature pretty much everything I enjoy within the band's style in a nutshell. Lengthy experimental grooves with wailing guitar sounds and laid back drum foundation with beautiful vocals soaring over the instrumental arrangements.

I highly recommend this album to fans of groovy rock music with only a pinch of experimental metal added into the mix. Just give this album a spin and I'm sure that you'll be hitting that repeat button for a weeks to come, I know that I certainly did!

***** star songs: Jupiter (3:17) In The Stream Of Commerce (5:28) Innuendo And Out The Other (6:11)

**** star songs: Big Riff (6:54) Brain Candle (3:28) Requiem (9:02) Decay Of The Delay (4:15) New Moon (5:42)
