LES TEMPS OUBLIES

Qantum, not to be mixed up with Quantum from Brazil (which I did when ordering....... hence this album & review) comes from France. A country with a very rich symphonic prog tradition. Bands like Mona Lisa and Ange springs to mind. That also goes when describing Qantum's sound. Their sound is an updated version of those two bands like Marillion is an updated version of Genesis sound. And that is the best description on Qantum's sound. Listed as neo-prog, they are very much on the symph side of that scene. They reminds me a lot about their countrymen Gens De La Luna too. Mostly because of the similar vocals. Qantum's vocalist Jean-Marc Tesorio does a brilliant job here and is a very important part of the great sound on this album. The rest of the sound is based on tangents (piano and keyboards) and guitars. Excellent executed music it is.

The quality is great throughout this album. No real killer tracks though, but this album is full of great melody lines and details throughout. It is also lush and tasty as a good burgundy red wine from France. This is one of the better French symph/neo albums from this side of the millenium and highly recommended.
