MIRROR MAN

This album was cause of the biggest mistake I ever made in my music listening/experiencing career. Bored with the music I had heard so far, I looked through the Dutch pop encyclopedia "Oor" (ear) just to see if from the reviews in it I could extract some music that might be interesting to explore. Well, were they quite impressed by the Captain! So, no internet at that time to dowload previews (or more), I went to my record shop and bought Mirror Man (fully randomly btw). At home I listened to it once and could not do differently than to conclude that these nitwits at Oor were completely insane. What a terrible noise. Hoppa, in my cd cabinet, verdict: guilty, collect dust. Months later, I saw it again and thought, how could these Oor guys be so enthousiastic about this Beefheart without me understanding nothing about it. So, maybe I should try it one more and last time?

Kandy Corn became my best song by anyone ever, mmm, that's something for a change, isn't it? And then I started to swallow everything I could find about the captain, becoming a true fan. The only thing I got disappointed by is that I never succeeded to find anyone who I could convice of the genius of this music. Until the moment I'm writing this. But yes, internet made me aware, I'm not the only one.
