3 stars IQ's 1993 Ever is another ambient, moody, dark, yet very beautiful album. Following the tradition of IQ, the six tracks comprised in this album are mostly in a slow or mid tempo. Stay away from this you progmet-minded freaks! But if you need to take a time of peace of mind, here is the place. Kicking off with -probably the fastest track in this record-"The Darkest Hour", you will soon mesmerized by John Jowitt in the intro section. I think half of the song is built through his bass playing. A superb opening track. While the first half "Fading Senses" contains a slow and mellow, and it's getting darker during the second half of it. "Out of Nowhere" is a close-to-pop track. Somehow this track falls in comparison to the first 2 tracks but it has great melody vocals.

The highlight -if not the best track in the record-is "Further Away", a fourteen-minutes plus starts with a mellow vocals melody that will make your soul floating. I would say that this track has almost all of the elements in the songs herein. "Leap of Faith" starts off somewhat boring but it has an interesting pattern on the second half of it. It's how Paul Cook and Martin Orford complimented each other with their instruments. You should not miss this. One low point here is the closing track is I think the weakest part of the record. Seems like it is a repetitive from the previous track.

Basically, IQ's music pattern is similar throughout their records. It won't to start off from this one. (3/5)
