5 stars This album is Zappa's last studio rock album. Its sad because the only reason why he stopped doing rock was because he was getting sick. Not only could he not play the guitar with as much vigor at this point, mental blocks from 2000+ mg's of caffiene and lack of sleep every day, and overall accumulated age, but he was just getting burned out because already realeased 35 or so albums and that was in only 18 years. Not bad output for someone that wrote and performed such intricate music like Zappa's.

Now mind you It still recieves 5 stars from me because it is incredibly entertaining, and delivers exactly what it attempts to deliver, dark, eerie, mid-80's Zapparock. He has Steve Vai and Ike Willis giving him backup now in the 80's. You'll think your hearing Zappa's guitar but no sorry buddy thats Vai playing real fast there, Zappa has cancer and he doesent even know it yet. Zappa's guitar is in the songs as well but you gotta listen to the style's, and you can tell who's who on the guitar.

All songs except Whipping post and The Closer You Are. Sorry Frank I know you loved these songs and all, but your voice needs Ike's Backup too much now in the 1st song. And Whipping Post is just way under your professionalism.

Other then that, songs like Marque-Son's Chicken will have you gettin that cool ass bass and rythm in your head when your workin later that day.

5 Stars.
