5 stars For a prog-rock fan, this is the most interesting Beatles period (1965-1967), the one in which they were progressively abandoning the "pure pop songs" and started to experiment with the studio technique recordings, adding loops, mellotron, classical instruments, sitar, and instruments recorded and played backwards. The culmination of this period was "Strawberry Fields Forever", one of the best songs of all times and any genre, and here there is the creative process of this gem in three different recordings.

The whole double CD has an EXCELLENT quality sound, this is not a mere bootleg. Besides dozens of different versions of a lot of great songs ("Yesterday", "Iīm Looking Through You", "And Yoyr Bird Can Sing", "Taxman", the wonderful "Eleanor Rigby" only with strings, "Penny Lane", "Only a Northern Song" or "I am the Walrus") and some unreleased stuff, this "Anthology 3" is essential for including one of the two NEW songs (using some Lennon demos) that the Beatles recorded in 25 years after the end of the band: "Real Love" (the other one, "Free as a Bird", appeared in the first "Anthology" series), which fits perfectly in this "hippy" period. It could have been and excellent inclusion in "Revolver", "Sgt. Pepperīs" or "Magical Mystery Tour". Itīs not only a great beatle song, but one of the best pop songs of the 90īs!!!

All in all, "Anthology 2" is the best compilation of out-takes ever made, and an example for other bands: I wish all the boxes that have appeared (or will appear) about any band or artist were like this!!!
