A BARCA DO SOL

One of the first progressive folk albums of Brazil I listen after my period of heavy metal and, loving the flute of Ian Anderson, begin with the chase for flute bands. Curiously enough, I get to the firts album of A Barca do Sol instead of Bacamarte... really cant remeber why.

Their first album was a imediate favorite, and I still recomend them as one the first top bands of Brazilian progressive music (together with Bacamarte, Marco Antônio Araújo, Secos & Molhados and Os Mutantes).

The album itslef is almost all of short tracks, with present flute and a crushign counter bass that give seriousness to everything played. The well crafted acoustic guitar also set the tone for folky and meticulous music at the same time.

Something edgy could be missing and my mind say 4 stars... but my heart go with the full 5.
