Here we have a couple of tracks released by Nirvana in 1969, which did not otherwise appear on album until they were added to the 1992 compilation "Travelling on a cloud". The band are now a duo, but on the A side here are supported by members of fellow Island Records label-mates Spooky Tooth.

"Oh what a performance" is rather out of character for Nirvana being a piano (Gary Wright) driven upbeat, hand-clapping number. It has a very groovy feel, with wild guitar work (Luther Grosvenor) and a sing-a long chorus. A real party piece.

The B side, "Darling Darlene" is more orthodox Nirvana fare, with a pleasant melody and pop harmonies. The song develops nicely which gives it the feel of being more than just a simple pop song.

Not really worth seeking out unless you're a real devotee of either 60's pop or Nirvana, in which case, pick up the "Travelling on a cloud" compilation.
