3 stars I may be in a minority here, but I've always felt that Status Seeker was a completely underrated tune. OK, it may not reach as high or as far as Metropolis Pt. 1 or Octavarium, but for a 4 minute track, Status Seeker kicks ass! You've got the cheesy 80s keyboards at the beginning, a superb guitar solo in the middle, and brilliant lyrics all around, courtesy of Dominici and Petrucci. The lyrics talk about people who at first didn't believe in the band, but changed their minds when they saw Dream Theater had a record deal: 'Change of opinion, at the drop of a dime!'. As with all the songs from 'When Dream And Day Unite', the production on this song is absolutely atrocious, and the "remix" doesn't really improve matters a great deal. However, the remix does add more bass, and gives the song a more "rocky" feel. For a song that was apparently written a day before going into the studios, Status Seeker wins my respect.
