5 stars Back in the spotlight

In September 2012, Pendragon released their latest DVD featuring a concert performed in Poland in April 2011. The DVD, which is of course listed separately on this site, captured the band's performance superbly. While the DVD format has the benefit of offering both sight and sound, there remain issues with portability, especially in terms of the music.

Metal Mind Productions have therefore taken the logical step of releasing a companion double CD of the concert, the discs being housed in an impressive digipak fold out sleeve with accompanying booklet.

Even without 'Freakshow', (presumably omitted from the CD for reasons of space) we have well over 2 hours of music here. The tracks are drawn from right across the band's catalogue including songs from "The world", "Window of Life", "The masquerade overture", "Not of this world", 'Pure", and "Passion". Highlights include the 16 minute 'Not of this world and 17 minute 'Comotose' which appear back to back. It is also good to see the classic 'Paintbox' getting a dusting down.

Those who already have the DVD will be well aware of the consistent excellence of the performances and the recordings here. This 2 disc set offers an ideal way to hear the tracks where and when you choose. It also represents a magnificent live album in its own right.

4 stars UK band PENDRAGON has been an ongoing concern since 1978, celebrating their 35th anniversary this very year. They made their debut in 1985, and have since then established themselves as one of the most popular artists exploring what is generally described as neo-progressive rock. "Out of Order Comes Chaos" is their latest release, a double CD live album which was released by Metal Mind Productions in early 2013. It is also available as a live DVD by the same label.

UK veterans Pendragon have a number of live albums out, time and again documenting their expertise at performing their material on stage. As all good live bands they don't merely replicate the studio versions so that fans have a reason to attend their concerts as well as purchasing the recordings from them. In this case we're treated to a fair few items that haven't been documented in a live setting previously, and some that haven't been covered live by this version of the band. Good enough reasons to note down this production as a likely buy in itself. A strong live recording that should be of interest to just about anyone with an affection for the neo-progressive part of the symphonic prog universe.

3 stars Last year Pendragon decided to release another Live album (the 8th of their career), so we have Out Of Order Comes Chaos (2013) in double CD and DVD released by Polish label Metal Mind Productions.

Having connections in Poland band and label decided to record this live album in Katowice in April 20th 2011. The band was then releasing their new studio album Passion (2011). Is good to note that this is not the first album the band release that is recorded in Poland, this is actually their FIFTH live album recorded in Poland...

Basically Out Of Order Comes Chaos (2013) is a release for the fans. You have the band's back catalogue and classics like 'Not Of This World', 'Ghosts' and 'Last Man On Earth' and four songs of Passion (2011) in a total of almost 2 hours and a half.

To be honest as a non-crazy fan of the band I found it quite too much for one sit. I had to split in two days. That's why my thoughts on this one are shared and I do think it would be great for the fans of the band.
