4 stars This album can easily be seen as another chapter in a prog tradition firmly rooted in the seventies: symphonic, epic, cinematic, keyboard-driven, almost purely instrumental music. But not just one more chapter, since you will not find here a mere repetition or copy of melodies and motives from people like the Wakeman family or Vangelis. More likely, this is a new original contribution, adding its own characteristics to that tradition.

The more intense and instrumentally dense passages are to be found in the tracks 1 (with a great synth-only coda), 2 (good guitar touches on top) and 4 (if you like the rhythm section to be creative, this may be for you). And the calmer stuff never put you to sleep, even being the kind of "descriptive" music that goes well with the contemplation of nature. The tracks 5, 6 and 7 in particular claim for open windows and passing clouds, even when one never ceases to get instrumental treats. As the "dark" track (and my personal favorite), I can mention the closer, Ancient Trip.

I think this is a layered, richly textured piece of music requiring immersive listening in order to obtain its full effect, and it truly rewards the attention paid.
