TIME HAS COME

The time has come for the debut CD from a Norwegian AOR band called MILLENNYA. This debut has world-class qualities when it comes to pompous melodic rock with some hard rock and progressive tendencies. You instantly get to think about bands such as A.C.T., ARENA, ASIA, BOSTON, CANNATA, JOURNEY, MAGNUM, MARILLION, QUEEN, SAGA, TALISMAN and TOTO when trying to describe their music. Once in a while you also get to think about more progressive bands such as DREAM THEATER, PINK FLOYD and RUSH. There are plenty of good melodies, vocal harmonies and catchy choruses on this album. The vocalist Jens Hagli is great and his voice is a mix between Steve Perry of JOURNEY and Steve Hogarth of MARILLION. Both the compositions, production, cover artwork and CD-package is very professional. I can't pick out any favourite tracks, as all of them are so very good. An astounding debut album in the progressive AOR genre, and one of the better privately released albums in 1998. Get these guys a record deal! Highly recommended!

This album is awesome. Nice prog rock, soft but still with influences like Dream Theater. Wilson and Svensen from Millenya have joined Haarr, Lynwood Foss and Kleppe from former Sea Of Dreams (N).

These days they are making new material for their new band Mayah, and hopefully we will hear more from these gays soon!

Both Millennya (Time Has Come) and Sea of Dreams (Dawn Of Time, Land Of Flames) is strongly recommended.

A totaly unknown and obscure progressive rock/AOR band from Norway with one album released so far in 1998 named Time has come. A good debute, with catchy melodies, nice choruses, good musicianship on every tune, pomp prog arrangements very much what Asia, Toto, Journey done decades ago and with nods towards Saga or A.C.T in same time. The vocal harmonies provided by Jens Hetland Hagli are quite good and fiting here perfectly. Not very much is known about this band who gone under the radar and remains unnoticed for many listners. Is intresting that first half of the album is the weaker one, or better said the most unintresting one with almost AOR pieces, but the rest of the half from Storyteller to the last piece Long hard fall is far more on the prog side, there is almost some flute as far as I hear on No guts, quite good. All in all a decent album, but far from being something groundbreaking. 3 stars, good but really nothing more.
