"Friend of the Night" is a single release by Scottish post rock act Mogwai. The single was released through Play It Again Sam in January 2006. The "Friend of the Night" track is also featured on the band�s 5th full-length studio album "Mr. Beast (2006)".

The single features the title track and the tracks "Fresh Crown" and "1% of Monster" which both sound like they are leftovers from the "Mr. Beast (2006)" sessions. While "Friend of the Night" is one of the highlights and most melodic and accessible tracks on "Mr. Beast (2006)", the quality if the remaining tracks is not on par with that one. They are pretty much what you expect from leftover tracks, which means that they are decent quality tracks, but probably left off in the first place because they aren�t exactly standout tracks.

"Friend of the Night" is overall a decent quality single though, but as the case is with most single releases, it�s probably mostly for the hardcore fans. More casual listeners can pass this one by if they already have "Mr. Beast (2006)". A 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.
