2 stars Sleepwalking

There have been quite a few Magnum live albums released over the years, the present one being of moderate interest. Recorded on tour in support of the weak Sleepwalking album in the 90's, we get a rather predictable mix of some older classics and a few obligatory new (at the time) numbers. The new ones are You're The One, Only In America, and Stormy Weather. The best of which is the latter one - a decent ballad. We get four cuts from 1985's On A Storyteller's Night; one from 1986's Vigilante; two from 1988's Wings Of Heaven. The only song from the pre-On A Storyteller's Night days is Kingdom Of Madness. None of these songs are bad, but the choices are overall rather predictable and most of these songs are featured on countless other live releases.

The performance is not the best and they feel rather tired - as if sleepwalking. The live album that was recorded on the subsequent tour (Stronghold) is very much better and so is the one that was recorded on the previous tour (The Spirit).

For fans and collectors only this one I think
