4 stars "The Last Concert in Sarajevo" was recorded live on 1 October 1999 soon after the release of the last studio album "Kameni cvjetovi" which was promoted live here. Many old friends of INDEXI appeared here as guests including Kornelije Kovac, formerly of KORNI GRUPA and Goran Bregovic, formerly of BIJELO DUGME and a successful film composer. I am not a fan of "live" albums in general, but this is a worthy document of the final days of INDEXI. And not only that, there are several very good performances here: "Balada" (one of the most beautiful songs ever written in the former Yugoslavia), traditional "Snijeg pade na behar na voce", even better than studio version from "Kameni cvjetovi" album, thanks to Alimanovic's excellent keyboard playing, "Bacila je sve niz rijeku" and the closing "Svijet u kome zivim". Three songs never before appeared in the repertoire of INDEXI: "Ima neka tajna veza" (an old 1970s song of BIJELO DUGME), "Crni svatovi" (performed earlier as a duet with pop singer Kemal Monteno) and another traditional song "Zute dunje" (Popovic solo performance for the "Kuduz" film soundtrack in 1989). Music here is quite solid and the performance very convincing, but the most important - it is filled with emotions. Since both Popovic and Kovacevic would soon pass away, one cannot hide tears when listening to some of their most memorable music contributions to the ex-Yugoslavian, and especially Bosnian rock music.
