Malachi biography
MALACHI was unknown British band from early 70s, founded by Barry KIRSCH (keyboards, arrangements, production) with help of Robert WILSON (bass, vocals), Paul PINDER (drums, flute, cymbals) and Jon ASHFOLD (congas, bongos).

They made one self-titled album in 1971 with an interesting history of its creation. "Malachi" was recorded in Belgian Studio Katy and released only in Italian part of EMI label. For this reason their work was probably not known in their home country and they remain hidden obscurity of early, psychedelic and pop influenced prog. Moreover album has strong presence of oriental and Latin percussion which distinguishes them from other bands active at the same time with similar style. These elements combined with very old-fashioned sound od Hammond Organs can bring to mind early Santana.

MALACHI's sole, archaic sounding album can be compared to other early British prog bands like CZAR, AARDVARK, RARE BIRD, BODKIN, DEEP FEELING and many more. They can be an interesting addition for fans of Hammond Organ driven rock and completionists of early prog from UK.
