THE HIGH FIDELITY ORCHESTRA is a mostly forgotten band that was formed in 1982 by guitarist and keyboardist Jesus GONZALEZ that delivers an interesting eclectic sound that meshes psychedelic, fusion and progressive rock that echoes the sound of KING CRIMSON among others. This band from Mexico had established close ties with the band NAZCA and this relationship helped to bring some attention to the band in their own country.

For their debut, self-titled album, the band recorded a very short 23 minute LP and did it in a matter of just a few days in September of 1982. GONZALEZ recruited Rene ROMERO (guitar), Gilberto GONZALEZ (bass) and Raymundo BARAJAS (drums). In order to make up for this short duration, when the album was reissued in 1999, three bonus tracks were added to help flesh out the album. These extra tracks were recorded in the mid-80s. The band later released an EP a few years later, but since then, the band has been dormant.

The band produces an interesting psychedelic sound (which is a result of the heavy use of synthesizers and guitar), but it also mixes in many other textures that give it the sound of a fusion style. The guitar-based sound mixes well with the synth Psychedelia/fusion sound with occasional touches of pop which make it all come about as a nice, eclectic sound. The band's influences include KING CRIMSON, ICONOCLASTA, DELIRIUM and NAZCA.
