Department Of Revenge biography
Department Of Revenge are a Chicago based band formed in 2009.
Bill Hartwig - Drums Bill was born and raised on Chicago's Northwest side. His first notable gigs were with Wicker park darlings Oncoming Traffic in the late 1980's. Funk-punksters gRind toured the midwest throughout the early 90's while also playing with Three Dollar Bag and Orifice Jones. After a brief sojourn in New York, the end of the century saw Bill playing with Royal Brown and Pink Floyd Tribute band Saucerful. The next decade was a blue period, in that Bill played in lots of blues bands. MicroBlue, Smilin Bobby, and Tommy McKracken and the Force of Habit Band to name a few. Around this time Bill met Rich Poston while he was performing and writing with 4 Letter Words. Bill took over the drum seat for this band in its waning years and stayed connected with Rich. Robin Crawford, who filled in on bass for one of 4LW final shows was recruited to form a new band. The focus was all original material that fused prog, punk, and metal into a blend of power, beauty, precision, and improvisation. The result was Department of Revenge.
Robin Crawford - Bass, Cello Robin spent most of his early life in western Michigan before relocation to Chicago in the 1980's. Robin was a founding member of the indie rock band Skirt Steak and was then recruited to join Three Dollar Bag where his serious chops on the cello excited live crowds every time. Recording and performing with many bands during the 80's and 90's, Robin stood out as one of the primary song-writers and creative force behind Orifice Jones. Robin went on to help found Royal Brown as he was playing with Smilin Bobby and several other independent rock acts throughout the city. The Pink Floyd tribute act Saucerful utilized his multi instrumental skills on Cello, Bass, Guitar, and Keys. Robin filled in as bass player for a 4LW gig and the trio of Hartwig, Crawford and Poston played together for the first time. While Robin continued gigging with blues and rock acts, Department of Revenge was forged and formed in a garage attic and polished in a bungalow basement.
Rich Poston - Guitar, Vocals, Keyboards Rich Poston grew up on the southwest side of Chicago and started his first original band in 1988. The four piece Psychotic Romance released a four song cassette and the band later resurfaced as a three piece called Requiem. In the late 1990s, Rich worked in many cover bands, most notably, Mary Ann and the Professors. He kept his love for prog...
