Review by Beautiful Scarlet

— First review of this album —
3 stars A modern album free of the bloat that plagues many releases. Here Woodtales unloads four delightful tracks to make a well rounded good album.

A sound that to my ears recalls the jazz rock of Colloseum and keyboards of The Doors with a dossage of early Nektar. Still Floating has a cohesive sound that avoids becoming an endless jam, while maintaining a good length.

Rover opens the album and is the most atmospheric track, with tasteful guitar, lovely e piano and organ washes. This is my least favourite track on the album, I find it takes to long to start and never really pays off, to much buildup no reward.

Floating underground opens up with rippin riffin guitar then gives way to a great rhythmic groove over which the vocalist croons a lovely melody and wa wa sic guitar floats. Then guitar soloes a brief solo which turns to nearly chime like arpeggios that give way to vocals, then the opening guitar solo again, this time with organ accompaniment. A winding down occurs and the song patters out with calming cymbals. A solid track.

Ciccada starts with an emotional guitar line that becomes distorted when the keys come in alongside the bass/drums. Vocals then start, again delivered nicely, although not for long as the keyboards then get to solo energetically. After a transitional section the guitar takes the lead then organ eventually comes in. After more instrumental work, the vocals return which fade as the opening guitar line returns to close the song. A lovely track, my favourite of the four.

5th dimension of curiosity features more prominent percussion work and possesses a darker edge with more distorted guitar.Although, this is not for long as chill guitar arpeggios take over, providing contrast. When the drums return they provide a welcome mat for vocals. Then lush keyboards play over the rhythm section. Proto metal guitar riffin' then mixes it up and provides an entry point for the guitar play over the rhythm section which has absorbed the keys. Vocals then come in to close the song/album. A solid track.

Overall this album has no terrible moments, a good album through and through without excessively long duration or 80 tracks. Almost 4/5.
