HUNK AI was a Danish band that adds their work to the world of avant-prog. Their first self-titled album was released 80s is basically the only as early representation of this style from Denmark.

Album recorded in the line-up: Cathrine LERVIG - vocalist and cover artwork author, Morten LERVIG on Bass and Synths, Carsten ORTMANN on drums, Rasmus Louie LUNDING on guitar, bass and percussion, Henrik JESPERSEN on sax and flute. Basically the backbone is jazz-fusion combined with the sounds of the 80s with a cutting saxophone, loud bass, 80s sounding guitar and very expressive female vocals. Improvisation seems to be an important element, which in combination with opertic/jazz vocals, elements of free jazz and sudden exploding bass grooves makes the music slightly frivolous and decadent in avant-prog manner. The sound brings to mind such avant-prog groups as British Henry Cow, Swedish Von Zamla, Kräldjursanstalten, French Pascal Duffar, Shub Niggurath, Hiatus and Polish Stan d'Art. The band also released their second album Alene Hjemme and ended their searchings.

Hunk Ai is an interesting representative of an avant-prog seeker who is close to the classics of the genre by soul and can be recommended to fans of mentioned bands and generally more unpredictable form of prog rock.
