Stagnant Waters biography
STAGNANT WATERS is the studio project of French multi-instrumentalist Camille GIRAUDEAU, formed in 2007 as a side venture of his main band Smohalla. A trio as of 2012, Stagnant Waters play a brand of hyperactive avant-garde industrial-influenced black metal.

In the group's early days, Camille handled vocals as well as guitar and bass duties. STAGNANT WATERS' first release, 2009's Sea of Abandoned Polaroids, was a split EP with Smohalla bandmate Vincent Cassar's Phlegma project, featuring the inaugural demos of both one-man bands. Camille later recruited Pryapisme's Aymeric Thomas, who contributed drums (real and programmed), keyboards, horns and electronics, and STAGNANT WATERS would release an idiosyncratic take on Enslaved's "Større Enn Tid - Tyngre Enn Natt" for 2012's Önd - A Tribute compilation record. The same year saw the release of the project's self-titled album, which now featured lead vocals by Svein Egil Hatlevik (half of the notorious Fleurety and formerly of Dødheimsgard) and guest cameos by fellow Pryapisme members Nicolas Sénac and Benjamin Bardiaux.

STAGNANT WATERS bear similarities to Dødheimsgard, Aborym, Whourkr, Ulver, Squarepusher, Genghis Tron, Thorns and Shining (from Norway).
