Avalon biography
Germany seems to be bursting at the seams with melodic power metal bands. AVALON falls into the same class as BLIND GUARDIAN. They've got that same combination of power, catchy melodies and classical orchestration. Likewise, the vocal style of AVALON is similiar to BLIND GUARDIAN. The singer has that same ability to sing both melodically and a bit more agressively when the music calls for it. Instrumentally, the band is superb.

3 stars This is a good one, but don't have the complexity of Vision Eden. The best track here is Two Mental , again a instrumental one, very smooth music. i can't say this is a masterpiece, but is good, worth listen.

3 stars Again good by this band from Germany, but not so good as Vision Eden, the best from them. Some tracks are super as Eternal Flame or the instrumental one. They seems to have very good instrumental songs on every album, maybe the best tracks on each album. After all not a bad one but neither the best. I remain to Vision Eden who has the best songs the band ever created. Avalon needs more reviews from you because worth it. They made a great music and still needs more attention even if they don't exist now.

4 stars 4 stars because is a good album, and every track has a high level . From "They are in between us" 'till last one "Solitune", the music is very fluid and powerful. I recomand this one, like the other two from '97 and 2000. A great band and great musicians, it's a shame that they don't sing enymore. My favorite is the opening track, great vocals, and DELORIAN a godess of bass.

5 stars This is pompous melodic-progressive Metal as it's best, by a German band. They are playing in the same vein as SAVATAGE, HELLOWEEN, QUEENSRYCHE, HAMMERFALL and DREAM THEATER. Their first album called "Why Now" (Semaphore 37978-422 CD) was released on the Semaphore label in 1995 and "Mystic Places" are AVALON's second release. "Mystic Places" are a very powerful and impressive second release. AVALON has a great sense for catchy melodies, like in "I'm Falling" (a track that my six year old son became very fond of), and they are very technically skilled musicians. Just listen to "Two Mental" and you know what I mean, the albums best track. Other tracks on this album that's worth mentioning are "Passion For Glory", "Through The Eye Of The End", "Burning Down The House" and "Blind Dance". The album are produced by Charlie Bauerfeind, known for his work with GAMMA RAY and ANGRA. The sound is very crisp and at the same time very fat.
