Cymoryl biography
CYMORYL is a french progressive metal band formed in Marseille in 1995. They released so far a single album in 2002 named "Strange Evocation"! issued at Musea records same year. Their music has influences from Dream Theater, hard/heavy bands like Iron Maiden or from old progressive masters like Yes. The album is full of melody combined very well with more complex arrangements, that gives to the album a specific progressive metal feel. The alternation between atmospheric piano (keys) passages with guitar riffs is made very sensible and interesting. Each musician gives the best they've got in musical terms and virtuosity and the result is a good album to enjoy if you like this kind of music. Guitar chops are influenced by famous PETRUCCI and vocal parts remind of Andre MATOS from ANGRA, but the personality of each musician is obvious and powerful. A high point of "Strange Evocation" is that the vocalist Alain PUGET doesn't have that specific french accent, he expresses himself like a real englishman. CYMORYL tries and succeded to give to the listeners a pleasant journey in the progressive metal realm.

3 stars Cymoryl is a french progressive metal band formed in Marseille in 1995. They released so far a single album in 2002 named Strange Evocation issued at Musea records same year. Their music has influences from Dream Theater, hard/heavy bands like Iron Maiden ,Van Halen or from old progressive masters like Yes. Guitar chops are influenced by famous John Petrucci but Jean Chritophe Panza know how to use a guitar and create something good and pleasent, vocal parts remind of Andre Matos from Angra (that typical nose voice), but the personality of each musician is obvious and powerful. A high point of Strange Evocation is that the vocalist Alain Puget doesn't have that specific french accent, he expresses himself like a real englishman. Cymoryl tries and succeded to give to the listeners a pleasant journey in the progressive metal realm nad for sure needs a wider recognition. CD available at Musea records at a very good price. All the pieces stands as good, not a weak one here - 3-3.5, a good album for sure but nothing close to a masterpice, still great to listen from time to time.

Thanks to snow dog for the artist addition.
