Waste Lagoon biography
WASTE LAGOON is a progressive metal band formed in 1990 in Bergen, Norway. Their music is influenced by bands like RUSH, TILES but also bands from old school like KANSAS or YES. The band has Frode FREDIKSEN on vocals, Ronny TERTNES on guitar and occasionally keyboards, Sune AKSNES bass and Zsolt MESZAROS on drums. The music is well written, tight and has many great moments that will please both RUSH and YES fans alike. The musicians are highly skilled, the melody and harmony of the songs proves that they were a talended and promising band of early this decade, but sadly they disbanded soon after this album. WASTE LAGOON release a single album so far in 2001 named "Shadow Chaser", the album has a distinct sound and its own merits in the prog metal field.

3 stars Trawling through Prog Archives alphabetical list is a sport I suppose most all of us indulge in from time to time when we're bored, noting the excellent off the wall prog metal that sometimes emanates from Norway I decided to Spotify this band and found the only album this band released - Shadow Chaser. I am currently through my first listen at track 10 and feel compelled to review. This album is brilliant! Imagine if you like - Rush, circa Moving Pictures - having the same muse and transplanting that into the 21st century with the voice of the guy from Tiles. This is what you'd get. Add to that a bit of jazz fusion and Petrucci style guitar distortion and you're getting there. Amazed I seem to be the first discoverer on Spotify...If you're reading this please Spotify it and bring it to a wider audience, I can't believe I can't find any details about them on Google so I can't follow them up but I can't believe musos this talented have just disappeared. By the way - I'm not from Norway -I live in Bedford in The UK.

3 stars Waste Lagoon is an obscure prog metal band from Norway who produce a single album so far in 2001 named Shadow chaser. The album was released at norwegian label Millenium Lagoon Records and get great reviews from media and fans aswell in that period. The music is Rush and Tiles influenced , but not a copy, they have their own sound and manner of composing delivering a solid and tight album for sure in prog metal scene. This band definitely kick ass with their playing and the quality of their music; melody and harmony are melting together very well. The album is up tempo with great interplays between musicians, showing that they know bussines, two instrumental pieces are the best from this album, Lagoona Strangiato (with the begging of the pieces sounding similar with legendary track Yzz from Rush from famous Moving picture) and Recycled Waste a more prog metal pieces then the rest but worth every second, the rest are also very good like opening track Witch hunt or Acid Rain. Musicianship is top notch showing how great this band was , they are disbanded now but with all that they are very underrated and unnoticed band from prog metal, and worth every second. 3-3.5 stars that means a great album that desearve a better view.
