Jack Yello biography
JACK YELLO is a heavy progressive rock band founded in 2000 out of DARIUS, Avalanche and Jagiello. This band combines several styles that include hooklines and melodies, with influences ranging from ARENA and MARILLION to SPOCK'S BEARD and DREAM THEATER.

Their first album "Thorns of Anger" was recorded without any sampler or sequencer between December 2001 and February 2003 in Düsseldorf, Germany. An concept album of 78 minutes with past epochs, classical elementaries and sharp guitar riffs. A musical firework for each fan of this genre.

3 stars Jack Yello from Germany formerly (Jagiello - who released one album in 1994) was formed around 2000 releasing so far 2 albums. The debut was released in 2003 Thorns of anger. I reviewed their second one Xeric and I was pretty impressed, I like this type of neo prog going in parts towards prog metal with subtle inventive arrangements, but not being a prog metal band in the end in sound, the combination working perfect on this band on both albums imagine a combination of Arena, Splinter with nice complexity of Dream Theater. The album has plenty of istrumental passages, well played and god damn intresting, dynamic playing. There are lots of hooks and melodic lines with sharp guitar passages and inventive keyboards - Inspiring Confidence, Game Show, Emotional Suicide . All in all recommended album, I personaly like it a lot, unfairly unnoticed band and album in prog circles. From me 3.5 stars easy, very strong. Nice art work and booklet aswell, but I prefer the second one Xeric.

4 stars Jack Yello from Germany formerly (Jagiello) was formed in 2000, releasing so far 2 albums, one in 2003 Thorns of anger and second in 2009 named Xeric. Well, this band is a nice surprise, at least for me. They palay neo prog with some subtle influences from prog metal all for good measure, the combination is quite intresting and very well played, imagine a combination of Marillion with dutch neo prog Splinter, maybe Arena and prog metal bands such as Dream Theater. The album has plenty of istrumental passages, well played and god damn intresting, as example is the opening track You've Got, the rest are also top. There are lots of hooks and melodic lines with sharp guitar passages and inventive keyboards - the result is Jack Yello. All in all recommended album, I personaly like it a lot, unfairly unnoticed band and album in prog circles. From me 4 stars easy, very strong. Nice art work and booklet.

4 stars This album gives you a feeling of deja-vu if you're familiar with the old Marillion. In other words, the voice is very Fish like in some places, but it's not disturbing. The first thought when I heard the music was confusing...it sounded like Starcastle. So the conclusion is: it's a nice progmix with various infuences. Maybe not to complex, but in my opinion you can't go wrong with this one.
Thanks to ProgLucky for the artist addition. and to ProgShine for the last updates
