Janvs biography
JANVS is an experimental Black Metal band from Liguria, Italy. They have adopted their name after the Roman god Janus, replacing the letter U with the letter V - a Latin style of spelling followed also in their songs/albums. The band was formed in 2003 by Matteo BARELLI (vocals/guitar) as a solo project and released the debut album Nigredo in 2004. Claudio FOGLIATO (TRONUS ABYSS, OFFIZIAL PROPAGANDE), bass, and Francesco LA ROSA (IANVA, MALOMBRA, SEGNO DEL COMANDO), drums, joined in 2005. With this line-up the concept album Fvlgvres was released in 2007. They also participated in a sampler called 'B.M.I.A. Compilation' with the song 'Pietas I'. 2008 saw the band's original drummer leaving the group, being replaced by Massimo ALTOMARE. 'Vega', the band's third album was released in the same year. The band has appeared in well-known metal magazines (e.g. TERRORIZER, DECIBEL) and has been described as having musical similarities to bands such as BURZUM and ULVER.
