Ørkenkjøtt biography
ØRKENKJØTT is an experimental metal band formed in 2005 by vocalist Michael HAUKELAND, guitarist Simen REM, guitarist Christian GRØNLI, bassist Håkon VOLLESTAD and drummer Arne Steinar MYRVANG. The band has released two EPs and a full-length album since its inception. The first EP, ''Høst'', was recorded in two days after the band had won a Rock Contest in 2007. In 2008 they returned to the studio through self-funding to record ''Skygger og Støv'', their second EP. Finally, four years later, the band released their first full-length album, ''Ønskediktet''.

The band's style is rooted in progressive alternative metal like TOOL and progressive death metal very much in the vein of OPETH. On top of this, they have a fair amount of post-metal and ethnic metal a la ORPHANED LAND to add an extra dimension to their music. Recommended for fans of heavy, experimental, and textured progressive metal.
