Synesthesia biography
One of the first progressive metal bands in the country, SYNESTHESIA was officially formed in the first months of the year 2003 in the Dominican Republic, originally consisting of Adalberto ARIAS (guitars, vocals), Luis GARCIA (guitars), Orlando GOMEZ (bass, backing vocals), Rudescindo VALENZUELA (keyboards) and Omar MELO (drums).

By the end of that year they entered the studio to record their first demo disc with two songs 'Instantes' and 'Espectros' that was released in the year 2004. During this time Omar MELO surprisingly joins the military, and the band hires Michael LINARES to assume the drums position. With LINARES now in the band, SYNESTHESIA performs its debut gig along side very well respected metal bands in the Dominican Republic. The year 2004 ended with the band receiving the distinction of 'Local Band Of The Year' in the Avanzada Metallica metal scene awards.

In June 2005 they release their first album, ''Relatos de una Evolución'' played in its entirety before nearly 400 people in the release concert that kick started the band's very active 2005 and 2006 with dozens of shows and festivals played throughout that time span. During that time RUDESCINDO is forced to leave the band due to commitments with his professional studies and career, opening the door for Andrés Emmanuel BERRIDO to join the band and finishing off all the scheduled shows. In May 2006 the band records a live psychedelic show where they played many songs off ''Relatos de una Evolución'' in a more chilled out, spacey, psychedelic and sometimes acoustic versions. The show was captured and released in March 2007 under the name ''Synesthesia 2i: En Vivo'' and was recreated for multiple packed shows throughout that year and selling all printed copies at the time, making it the best selling live album in Dominican rock's history.

In late 2007 the writing for a new album began interchanged with a heavy playing schedule, up until the band enters the studio in June 2008. The EP ''Symbalousa'' was released in 2009, marking their most recent release.

PAIN OF SALVATION, OPETH, PORCUPINE TREE, DREAM THEATER, KING CRIMSON, THE MARS VOLTA are credited as SYNESTHESIA's influences. While their sound is rooted to traditional progressive metal, their EP shows a shift to simpler, more melodic patterns.
