Anawa biography
ANAWA was a Polish progressive rock group founded by pianist Jan KANTY-PAWLUSKIEWICZ and singer Marek GRECHUTA in Krakow in 1966. The band is more known as a backup band for GRECHUTA with whom they worked with on his first two albums, the latter being the famous 'Korowod' from 1971. The same year the group went into hibernation after guitarist Marek JACKOWSKI and bassist Jaces OSTASZEWSKI left the group (OSTASZEWSKI later in the decade joined the indo-prog group OSSJAN).

In 1973 Jan KANTY-PAWLUSKIEWICZ renewed the group with a new line-up and recorded a concept album centered around poetry by Leszek Aleksander MOCZULSKI and Ryszard KRYNICKI. This would be their only album but the group started to cooperating with GRECHUTA again starting with his album 'Szalona Lokomtywa' in 1976 and continued all the way to the early 90's.
