Nazi UFO Commander picture
Nazi UFO Commander biography
Nazi UFO Commander is a strange, controversial and not entirely serious concept project. The NUC concept revolves around the (unfounded and some rather silly IMHO) theories of esoteric nazism. Specifically the theory that the Germans achieved in making spacecraft and that there is a secret facility of these craft in New Swabia Antarctica, as well as Vril Society and alien contact.

The person behind NUC is anonymous, and only released two albums before disappearing. The sound of NUC is influenced by certain aspects of Noise, Kosmische, Industrial, and Ambient music, and some songs feature whispered spoken word pieces.

3 stars NaziUFOCommander 2008's "Radiant Entropie" will appeal to those who crave for noisy, raw electronics and e-books. A 14 songs release that lasts 43 minutes, holds in its briefness its best weapon.

If you get your kicks from Sci-Fi story telling with scratchy, lo-fi, retro sound effects most of the time, you will get some. (I myself could not care less for its sci-fi's UFO story, but being narrated with a clone like Zappa's "Joe's Garage" voice in off, inevitably makes the whole thing involuntarily humorous.

The real deal, as I was telling, is that this whole release is full of brief surprises, which rely on combining and blending different sonic electronic "hooks" and styles whose roots could be traced from The Residents' playful eeriness, Conrad Schnitzler's roughness and dirtyness, some more contemporary sounds like The Crystal Method's great intros (the first track) and the influence of obscure or industrial electronics the kind of Lustmord, Mauricio Bianchi, Coil, Peter Frohmader, Schloss Tegal, etc, etc.

Fun, not really to be taken as mere collectible, but far from being essential , more like in between.

***3 PA stars.
