Newton's Cradle biography


Based out of Catania, Italy, NEWTON'S CRADLE is a progressive metal act founded in 2010 initially named WELTCHMERZ. They started off as a cover band performing songs by NIGHTWISH, IRON MAIDEN, PINK FLOYD and DREAM THEATER, but eventually they decided to write original material, changing their moniker to NEWTON'S CRADLE. Original vocalist Nadia ORLANDO left the band during this transition period and the duties were initially given to Francesco TROMBETTA, but eventually he was replaced by Andrea FILOCAMO. After coming up with enough original work, the band began recording, and during this process Andrea left the group due to personal reasons and the vocals for the recordings were completed by new vocalist Silvia Di MAURO. The finished result was a full length album, Broken, and it was released in December of 2015. The style of music merges technically accomplished progressive metal with occasional modern alternative influences.

The current roster includes Nicholas CARPINATO on drums, Emanuele BATTIATO on bass, Davide Di MAURO on guitar and synthesizers, Silvia Di MAURO on vocals, Silvio MACRI on guitar and flute, and Enrico PUGLISI on keyboards.
