Nux Vomica biography
Formed in 2003, NUX VOMICA began their trajectory as a side project by members of the atmospheric doom metal act WAKE UP ON FIRE. Initially conceived as a more crust punk outfit, other influences began creeping into NUX VOMICA's sound as the years and releases went by. Songs became longer, and elements ranging from melodic death metal to post rock gradually increased within their song structures. Lyrically, the band's political lyrics remained intact thought the group's existence and the vocals delivering them are primarily harsh and vicious.

In 2005, the band released their first EP, "The Uninspired", which was also around the time that WAKE UP ON FIRE was put to rest, with the attention of the members shifting to NUX VOMICA as the primary act. 2007 brought about their first full length, "A Civilized World" followed by numerous split releases. In 2009, "Asleep in the Ashes", their second full length, came out featuring much longer songs and increased complexity with not only instrumentation but an increase in dynamics between loud and quieter passages. The band later were signed to Relapse Records and released their self-titled album in 2014 to wide acclaim from a variety of sources and sites, being a forty four minute release consisting of three epics displaying a vast sonic journey with undercurrents of NEUROSIS threading through their sound.

Currently on hold, the band members before their hiatus include Danny on bass, Zacrilege on drums, Chris CONTROL and Tim MESSING on guitars and vocals, and Just DAVE on vocals, percussion an samples.
