   Virvel av Morkerhatet are a progressive black metal band based out of Kiev, Ukraine. They began life in 2003 as Den of Winter, with Howler on vocals/keyboards, Graakh on bass/vocals and Yar on drums. They recorded a demo and EP before releasing their first full-length, Forsaken Hate Sickness, in 2010 under the new moniker Virvel av Morkerhatet. The band would spend the next six years writing and recording, during which time Yar would leave the group to be replaced with Astaroth (from one-man project Raventale), who filled in as a session musician on drums and guitars. Their sophomore LP, Metamorphopsia, was released on Avantgarde Records in 2016. While their earlier material was a straightforward second wave-influenced style similar to Mayhem and Darkthrone, Metamorphopsia presented a drastic evolution in sound, now comparable to Abigor, Ved Buens Ende, Virus, Whirling, Urarv, Dødheimsgard and Manes.

	Ha, I thought this would be a shoo-in and that my simultaneous suggestion, Bloody Panda, would be rejected, but quite the opposite happened. Oh well.
