Panopticon Eyelids are a self-described "Sci-Fi Prog Punk" band from Montréal, Québec, active since 2002. While its lineup has often shifted, the group's permanent core consists of guitarist/vocalists Sébastien Fournier (of Avec Le Soleil Sortant De Sa Bouche) and Michel Meunier (of En Fer and Whilst) along with drummer Félix Morel (of Fly Pan Am). The band plays a heavy, disorienting brand of psych rock with uncompromising krautrock experimentation, along with nods to noise rock and no wave.

Panopticon Eyelids' idiosyncratic style invites comparisons to Faust, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Jesus With Me, Comets on Fire, Captain Beefheart, Pissed Jeans and even Voivod.

This one is a resubmission. I initially put this one forward back in 2013 (http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=94188). The mods at the time seemed to warm to them (Keishiro compared them to Acid Mothers Temple), and Seventhsojourn suggested I label them Krautrock as they were too experimental for straight-up Psych/Space. A Progfreak page was set up for them five years ago but it seems they never came up for a vote.

So they didn't make it in PSIKE, but the band are just the right kind of weird to be eligible for ZART. Keishiro + Ian + Luca: want to give them a shot?

Fwiw, if you end up tackling them, I recommend checking out Mobile Asylum Band-Aid (their most cohesive and Faustian release) as well as Glitter Vomit (which has Beefheart and Bad Statistics vibes) along with the Steve Godin collab Cronus (abstract electronics with spoken-word, very Randy Greif-like) and finally Overwhelming Visions (their most well-produced work which sounds a lot like Voivod).

On ZART chart
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution
