Both of these albums were released during crucial lineup changes in Tangerine Dream. One was released right after the other, but which record is the best. Cyclone was my first TD record, and I adore Cold Bent Sidewalk, so it gets my vote.

Force Majeure is great but Bent Cold Sidewalk sets up Cyclone so well. Both classic T Dream.

Both are good, but I prefer Cyclone. After the first shock I found Bent Cold Sidewalk quite enjoyable and Madrigal Meridian is classic TD, one of my favourite TD pieces.

Both are classics, but I prefer Force Majeure, which for me is on par with Stratosfear and Exit in terms of musical richness, melody, and sounds.

Both great, but I'll favor Cyclone by a fraction just because it was such a bizarre, left-field move for TD to suddenly include lyrics. Also, "Rising Runner Met by Endless Sender" is one of the great titles of all time.

FM is one of their best, a top five album. Cyclone is a step or two down, but Bent Cold Sidewalk is stellar.

Went for Cyclone. Parts of Force Majeure sound somewhat new agey to me. Cyclone has a more mysterious and prog electronic atmosphere overall.

Agree, and I enjoy Steve Joliffe's punk-ish singing in it, but if only they could have removed his useless vocalizations at the end...

I voted Force Majeure. Years ago, I was a bit wary of buying Cyclone since I read reviews about it being divisive among the fanbase due to the presence of Joliffe's vocals and alleged weirdness, which I generally don't have a high tolerance for.
However, due to the quality of the albums preceding and following it, I decided to take a chance on it and, although there are some parts I'm not too keen on, was very pleasantly surprised overall, especially by Bent Cold Sidewalk. Those fat Moog lines and that plodding bass!

I generally have little respect for the kind of people who vote "Neither are good." I believe that they are usually trolls/ imps/ ignoramuses who don't even know the albums. I would respect such people more if they had the cojones to express their thoughts in a post, and more still if they could actually argue for the position (hard task when taking into account the subjectivity of the experience, but not impossible to make a cogent argument that goes beyond I don't like it).

I wish that it didn't work secret ballot style and it showed who voted.

Anyway, the force is strong with one of the choices. Force Majeure for me.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.
