I'll open here; its got to be Levitation. Live 79 is a great document of the first time i saw HW live. All the other studio lps have their moments but.. apart from Sonic Attack and Choose your masques there is a lot of filler, out-takes, Dave Brock demos and live bits and pieces released under different names.

Text of Festival was released at this time but is bootleg recordings of 70-72 live stuff and jams so doesnt really belong here.

Levitation is the most uplifting album for me too. I've included the Text of Festival bootleg album for the sake of completeness, even though I doubt very much if anyone will vote for it. Smile

Fair enough soThumbs UpSmile

I hoped the Dave Brock solo 'Earthed to ground' might be good on the back of the single 'Social alliance' (which actually was a live Hawkwind version anyway..) and a couple of the Dave Brock demo 'Weird tapes' which were really interesting but it sounded pretty flat and dull and had the least interesting material on it. shame.

Unfortunately, Nik Turner only made cameo appearances on album during the period he returned to the mothership (82-84) so it's 'Levitation' that remains the last great Hawkwind album.

I would probably pick Levitation even if it had competition, I'm a huge fan.
