I just felt like shining a light on Wayne Shorters (RIP) fantastic contributions to what PA brands as Jazz Rock Fusion. As a bandleader, player/performer/sideman - only a handful of legendary artists can match a list like this. And they're all actually featured on albums in this poll. Over 80% of these are treasured favorites of mine, but I'll try to limit myself to selecting six of them.

-Multiple votes are allowed. If you know very few (or none), I suggest you'd do something about it.

From the list, Weather Report. My favorite Wayne solo album is "Speak No Evil". His solo on Steely Dan's song "Aja" is also noteworthy. Such a great musician that left a lot of excellent music for us to enjoy.

I don't know very many of these, maybe five or so, but in my book Bitches Brew is every bit as much a masterpiece as its reputation says.

Yes I left out a few among them some personal favorites, as I only included albums with a "PA-relevance". And as his contribution on Aja is just the solo on that one song, so I did not consider that one either.

Not just my favorite albums among these, but my favorite Wayne Shorter-albums (like, he’s only featured on Lonely Fire on Big Fun, so although just about my favorite album period - I didn’t vote for it + I love Filles De Kilimanjaro, but every song is credited to Miles):

I went for these six:

Bitches Brew
Odyssey of Iska
In A Silent Way
Water Babies
Weather Report
Moto Grosso Feio

For those unaware, the personell of musicians featured on this double album-delight is more or less Weather Report (only Joe Zawinul missing from the 1977 line up) + a few more additional legends: Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, Manolo Badrena, Alex Acuña, Don Alias, John Guerin, Airto Moreira, Larry Carlton... and a few more.

-it's Björk's favorite album btw.

I would add Miles In The Sky and drop Black Market

Definitely not a fan of Jaco in WR, though it's clear that Jaco's presence next to Jo,ni Miticjel pushed het up a few stairs upwards.

Yessss, DJRD is my fave JoniStarClapStarClap, but all of those JM albums where Jaco appears are a notch or two better than the rest of her discography.

Yes I love all those albums and it's funny how much more intesting i find Jaco's playing with Joni than practically anywhere else. But man do I love Court and Spark (and actually all her preceding albums, really) as well - including Max Bennett's bassplaying on it.

I'll vote for Odyssey of Iska, Miles in the Sky, Filles de Kilimanjaro, In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, Big Fun, Circle in the Round, Weather Report's self-titled and I Sing the Body Electric, Man-Child, Zawinul and a nice discovery thanks to this poll which I am listening to right now, Joni Mitchell's Don Juan's Reckless Daughter.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.
