Sorry if this has been done before, but if it has, I don't remember it. All three songs have both their advocates and detractors, so I'm expecting a close finish. I've always loved Patrick Moraz's performance on this album, but it would have been very interesting to see what Vangelis would have added to the material at hand. Both Steve Howe and Chris Squire have one of their very strongest albums ever!

Ah, finally a comment. I just wanted to say "five votes and not a single comment; Yes fans must be shy..."

If I had to mention an all time favourite album it would be this one. And I like all three tracks, probably also because of the diversity they offer: the wonderful soothing ballad of To Be Over, the jazzy frenzy of Sound Chaser and the flabbergastingly musicality and madness of The Gates... A most exceptional album in (rock) music history, in my opinion. I'll vote for that unequalled and undescribable piece that is called The Gates of Delirium. I'd play it at my funeral, just to chase the assistance away... (unless, out of decency they stay and will thus be rewarded by the hope giving end section of that composition).

Gates just a smidgen ahead of Sound Chaser. I'm loosely based on a novel about trash compactors and wild broccoli.

The Gates of Delirium gets my vote for "Soon" alone.

Yep. My vote as well. I probably even prefer it over the title track to Close To The Edge.

1. Gates
2. Over
3. Sound

One of my favorite albums of all time and I love all three songs. I prefer the live version from the Word is Live set to the studio.

Gates is an incredible track. I tried doing a top 100 prog tracks of all time a while back and this came out on top ahead of Suppers Ready and Karn Evil 9 for me. I'm not a big fusion fan (apparently one of the reasons Wakeman left Yes at that time was the direction they wanted to go in on Sound Chaser) and To Be Over is not my cup of tea. However would have been interesting if Moraz had been left in place for at least a few more albums rather than bringing Wakey back so quickly.

My preference too..

I think the great Chris Welsh said of the album- Art out of electronic orchestration- sums it up I’m still amazed by it. Voted Gates but Sound chaser & whole album is great- thanks to 5 of the best.

I'll go with "Gates," but the entire album is a masterpiece!

"To Be Over" is the song they shall play when they nail the lid of my casket shut.
