Just based on what was posted and a little youtube digging (i.e early impressions): Neither are altogether my taste, Octopus more-so, but Octopus' skill easily outshines that of Time's Forgotten for me. I do find that perhaps at times Octopus might benefit from a little more restraint, and with Time's Forgotten, despite some very good acoustic guitar work, it strikes me as rather amateurish (mostly from a compositional standpoint). I prefer the jazzier Octopus to the more symph-oriented Time''s Forgotten. Based on my rather too limited listening and too limited time to properly assimilate the music, an easy vote for Octopus from me. Very good band.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Octopus play some heavy sh*t and i have a couple of theirs that i do like. The other band is new to me but after some listens i have to go with the 8 legged band.

I own two Time's Forgotten's albums which are pretty cool. Octopus are also nice, but I have not been into their music actually, in spite I saw them live in the last Baja Prog Fest.
