All early work (that appear on the list) by: Pink Floyd, Rush, King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, EL&P, Jethro Tull and Marillion (count: 25), plus:

15. Per un Amico
16. Mirage

25. Storia di un Minuto
30. In a Glass House
33. Birds of Fire
34. The Grand Wazoo

43. Scheherazade and other Stories
44. One Size Fits All
46. The Power and the Glory
47. Octopus

54. In the Land of Gray and Pink
66. The Inner Mounting Flame
68. Romantic Warrior

77. You

93. L'Isola di Niente
97. Third

Out mainly for space reasons: Banco (for whatever reasons, I'm still a bit conservative on RPI.. mostly PFM and Maxophone for me.. but sure I'll give it a try... I like ...Di terra though, and Le Orme's Uomo di Pezza), Magma (I like some things very much.. but whole albums still couldn't say…), VdGG (I've never could get into… still trying), GG's free hand & acquiring the taste, Zappa's Hot rats (overrated imo).

Would keep roughly 40% of PA's top 100.

20 years ago I would have probably kept most of them. But things change and even the bands that I like on the list aren't represented by my favorite albums. For instance, MDK, while a good album, is not a top 100 to me while other Magma albums are. The other problem is that live albums are not included on the PA list. Several live albums are in my top 100, including the only representative from Yes, Yessongs at number 2.

I actually have 71 of them in my collection.

2. Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
8. King Crimson - Red
24. Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso - Darwin
25. PFM - Storia de Minuto
27. Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso - Io Sono Nato Libero
33. Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
37. Supertramp - Crime of the Century
39. Pink Floyd - Meddle
44. FZ - One Size fits all
46. GG - The Power and the Glory
68. Return to Forever - Romantic Warrior
76. ELP - ST
82. Steve Hackett- Voyage of the Acolyte
87. Le Orme - Felona e Serona

Get rid of:
Zappa , Magma , Klaus Schulze and all the jazz rock fusion stuff. Plus Script For A Jesters Tear (would make my list of worst neo prog albums) and Scenes From A Memory Part 2 (there is loads of DT I much prefer)

Moving Pictures is one of my favourite albums so that stays!

hmm.. glanced at it earlier...

starting with the easy ones...  albums completely out of place on that list.. any list of top or great PROG albums
17 . Moving Pictures
19. that album...
23. what the hell is that....2018? enough said..  you're f**king outta there!   This ain't a pop album chart... and umm...  symphonic prog is one of the most overdone.. moth eaten and cliche ridden subgenres in prog.  If you aiin't modern prog.. ie metal, rio-avant, postie or even xover..  you don't belong on the list because chances are..  you are just playing the same sh*t that other played.. and so much better decades earlier..

24. Aqualung - love it and much much better an album than TaaB and for one big reason and Ian was right about this. It ain't a f**king prog album.. doesn't belong

28 yeah...  no need to revisit that one..  spent enough time yelling and screaming about that when he was added.  Which I had a large hand in his addition...

could go into a 2nd batch that I don't think are up to snuff quality wise. .for there are SO many that smoke many of these flavor of the month albums by popular groups but what is the point. I've been riffing in that key for years and still am playing street corners and getting freebies from chicks with mustaches and sporting eye patches.  bah....

I'd likely keep most.  Many on the bubble as well.  Probably more I'd drop if I really thought about it. But it'd be easiest to say which ones I would certainly drop.

10. VdGG - Godbluff
28. Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (I love Miles, but he has at least three others I put ahead of this)
36. VdGG - H to He, Who Am the Only ONe
37. Supertramp - Crime of the Century
42. Opeth - Still Life
49. Steven Wilson - Hand. Cannot. Erase
63. Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
69. Opeth - Ghost Reveries
78. Tangerine Dream - Rubycon
85. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew (same comment as above)

I must be a newbie. By my count, I own just 48 of the top 100. Of those there are around ten I haven’t listened to enough to be able to say whether they’re in my all-time top 100.

As people seem to be having fun with all those lists, I thought I'd make one of my own. Just had a look at the albums included in the current Top 100, and thought I'd keep maybe half - probably less - of them in my own personal Top 100. Here's the ones that would survive the cull:

Yes - Close to the Edge/Fragile/Relayer/The Yes Album
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
Jethro Tull - Thick As a Brick/Aqualung
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King/Red/Larks' Tongues in Aspic
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here/Animals
PFM - Storia di un minuto
Banco - Io sono nato libero
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
Supertramp - Crime of the Century
Renaissance - Scheherazade and Other Stories
Gentle Giant - Octopus
Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink/If I Had to do It All Over Again...
Soft Machine - Third
Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom
Magma - MDK
Gong - You!
Hatfield and the North - s/t
National Health - Of Queues and Cures
Henry Cow - Western Culture
Area - Arbeit Macht Frei

There are a few that might also be included, though at the moment I am not sure about - namely Meddle, Moving Pictures, Acquiring the Taste and Birds of Fire.
