I´d like to add this solo artist that comes from my country Argentina. He started playing in the band MIA in the 70s which appears in the archives but after that he began his solo career in which he went for various formations and styles.

From Folk, Jazz rock, tango. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lito_Vitale there you have more information.

He has a very extensive discography, since 1980. With 30+ studio albums on the list.

I will leave here some audio samples:

Hm, while this is very good jazz fusiony material, I feel like this is a bit too 'soft' and loungey for our definition of jazz fusion. PA's jazz fusion is more closely aligned with jazz rock, and this has very little rock going on. It's more a fusion of jazz and latin, which isn't exactly what we're looking for.

Very nice stuff, though.

Yeah you re right maybe its not aligned with rock but prog folk would describe it better as it plays styles and instruments coming from my country. Its very complicate to evaluate him but when you get to hear his tracks you can sense a lot of progressive elements, more if you hear his longer compositions.

I wouldn't write this guy off just yet...In a comment for a YouTube track lifted off his first album from 1981 'Sobre miedos, creencias y supersticiones' he is described as: "The argentinian Mike Oldfield at that time", and the album "One of the best latin-american progressive albums ever".

He played in bands like MIA (Symphonic Prog), was a guest on JR/F band Tantor's self-titled debut album and played live on keys for Redd (Eclectic Prog) towards the end of its initial period of existence (there was a later reunion of the band), and whilst with MIA he produced the first two albums by the Argentinian Magma (Prog Folk)...So I reckon he could be a no-brainer for Prog Related at the very least.

Have a listen to these two cuts from 'Sobre miedos, creencias y supersticiones':

I can provide the full album to a team for evaluation purposes if required.

Wow great stuff, never heard his debut album. But as i mentioned before its hard to evaluate him by one album because he changes styles.

This album is very close to Symphonic Prog imho - I'm tempted to send it to Iván Melgar-Morey, who is in charge of our Symphonic Prog evaluation team, for his opinion. Iván will undoubtedly already be familiar with this artist due to his work with Symphonic Prog band MIA, and the fact that he is from a country close to Iván's home in Peru. He might even be happy to prepare a Prog Related submission for us if Lito doesn't find a home here in a 'proper' sub.

It looks like a 'no' on that score. I think that Lito won't be coming to PA after all. Sorry, my friend...at least I tried.

Scott, if you think he has a chance in Crossover then please go ahead and evaluate him. I'll send you his first album via p.m. to start you off.  Smile

There is a full topic devoted to him on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyzN0QkfbxR26sqVs78eLSQ. This contains a selection of vids generated automatically by YouTube's video discovery system, and the following bio:

"Talented Argentinean musician Lito Vitale was born in Buenos Aires, son of Esther Soto and Rubens Vitale. At a very young age, influenced by his parents and inspired by a piano, Lito started getting involved in music. In 1976 he formed M.I.A., which stood for Músicos Independientes Asociados (Independent Musicians Associated). After a show, Argentinean singer/songwriter Luis Alberto Spinetta invited him to join his band, Spinetta Jade. In 1981 Lito Vitale released his first solo record, Sobre Miedos, Creencias y Supersticiones, soon after teaming up with Dino Salvazi and Manolo Juárez. Next, he formed a three-piece act with Bernardo Baraj and Lucho González, issuing El Trio in 1985 and Vitale-Baraj-González in 1986. After participating in the Expo Sevilla 1992, the musician created a new project called Lito Vitale y Los Argentinos. Around that time, Lito Vitale hosted a late night TV show oriented to music..."

Thanks.

They're cleared for addition and waiting for a bio. If you want, you can speed along the addition by PMing kev rowland (the team leader) a bio for the band. The procedure for writing a PA approved bio are here.
