DREAM THEATER Octavarium progressive rock album and reviews DREAM THEATER - Octavarium (2005)
Review (Permanent link) by Electrock @ 10:07:27 AM EST, 7/24/2005
1 stars  —   My rating is really 0 (zero - null) stars. I'm a prog-rock fan and I have hundreds of Prog-rock CD's but this is really f''''ing bad. The main problem here is: Not a bit of soul, it is only a instrumental masturbation without all - all that is needed to make a decent prog-rock album. Dream Theater is one of the most overrated bands I ever heard of. Yes it is true that the musicians here are all technically outstanding but the rest - compositions, arrangements, lyrics, atmosphere etc. is worser than worse. Soullless masturbating musicians without feelings recorded some piece of sh*t and trying to sell it - it makes me sick.

When you visit the official DT website and click on the names like James LaBrie than you will not see a bio about the artist like born in blabla no it states: Buy the solo album, buy the Poster buy this & buy that. F*ck them!

Two reviews by the same person? It's a little odd, but the reviews are ok.

PSYCHOTIC WALTZ Bleeding
Review (
Permanent link) by Marc Baum @ 7:19:10 PM EST, 12/22/2003

5 stars  —  The last album by one of the most innovative rock & metal bands in the last 20 years in music. Every album of Psychotic Waltz sounds different and "bleeding" is the most melodic one. For me, "bleeding" is a perfect combination of "Mosquito" and the legendary debut "A Social Grace". All songs of this wonderful album were written for eternity and producer Scott Burns made a great job, because "Bleeding" is the best produced Waltz-album. The split of Psychotic Waltz is a tragedy for the musicworld, because I don' t believe there will be a better band in the future. But let 's see what the future will bring... R.I.P. Waltz !

PSYCHOTIC WALTZ Bleeding
Review (
Permanent link) by Marc Baum @ 7:38:33 AM EST, 1/12/2004

5 stars  —  "Bleeding" combinates the groove of "Mosquito", the darkness of "Into The Everflow" and the heavyness of "A Social Grace" perfectly and is the final masterpiece of this prog metal legend and specially for me the best band of the 90's! Such wonderful, for eternity written songs like "Faded", "Locust", "Morbid", "Bleeding", "Drift", the very sadly "My Grave" (the "I Remember" follow-up) or "Freedom?" won't be forget by real fans for all time! R.I.P. Waltz!

QUELLA VECCHIA LOCANDA Quella Vecchia Locanda
Review (Permanent link) by DOMINGUITO PROGRE @ 6:26:29 PM EST, 1/17/2004

5 stars  —  UN SUPER DISCO, DE LOS MEJORES ......DE ESTE SEXTETO ROMANO. LAS OCHO CANCIONES ESTAN DE AGASAJO.....LA ARMONIA DE LA MUSICA CON EL COSMOS.......MI DISCO FAVORITO...SIN DUDA, DE ROCK PROGRESIVO ATTE: MINGUITO PROGRE

QUELLA VECCHIA LOCANDA Quella Vecchia Locanda
Review (Permanent link) by Dr.Gustavo Lopez Aburto @ 1:23:29 PM EST, 1/23/2004

QUELLA VECCHIA LOCANDA Quella Vecchia Locanda
Review (Permanent link) by Alexsander Cezar Avolio @ 1:35:24 PM EST, 11/5/2004

QUELLA VECCHIA LOCANDA Quella Vecchia Locanda
Review (Permanent link) by Rodrigo Kelly @ 2:53:23 PM EST, 4/6/2005

5 stars  —  O q dizer do álbum?

5 stars  —   Wow, the stars say it all, "A Masterpiece of Progressive Music!" I'm surprised these cats weren't as big as Genesis or Yes or whatever. They really take complex music and make it catchy. It's very fun and quirky, you don't need to be an advanced listener to enjoy it. My girlfriend hates most of my prog listening... this she likes.

It's not so bad, Cygnus. Could give a bit more detail about the music, but I catch his drift. Even the bit about his girlfriend is relevant. This review, when read in context with the others for the album, could be useful.

EVERGREY The Inner Circle
Review (Permanent link) by Kevin Peterson @ 6:12:15 PM EST, 6/9/2005

2 stars  —  Are you freaking kidding me? 5 stars? WOW- i would hate to trade my cd's with any of you 5 star reviewers- Evergrey DOES NOT DESERVE 5 STARS- yes, I admit that they can catch people's attention- but after a while- the HORRID vocals catch up with you- and you ask yourself- "why am I listening to such trash?" The guy simply does not have a frontman's voice- The Music can be wonderful at times- but the singing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Well, I'm not Evergrey's fan, but this review is a piece of crap IMO
There's almost nothing about music, only something about singing... Author wrote only how much he hates this band...

1 stars  —  Okay, let me put this as simply as possible. Put down the kool-aid and step away from the DVD player. Good. Now, go over and get Rush in Rio off the shelf and watch a real music video. Or Led Zeppelin. Or whatever you want. Just don't force anybody to sit through this masturbatory nonsense.

Are any comments really necessary?

EMERSON LAKE & PALMER (ELP) Brain Salad Surgery
Review (Permanent link) by Hugues Chantraine @ 7:21:17 AM EST, 2/5/2004

PROG REVIEWER

2 stars  —  2,5 stars because it is a peak in progressive rfock in its own way , but I'm not sure this is a positive way. Most ELP fans vote for this one as their fave album and it is easy to see why. Apart from the stunning fold-out artwork sleeve , there are IMO some major flaws with this album.

This is the album where ELP goes overboard as Yes did with Tales Of Topographic Ocean or Jethro Tull with A Passion Play. I believe that ELP was still faithfull to themselves as they did this album with great care but probably were too confident that they could do no wrong. But they did!!Karn Evil 9 is , of course the highlight but I find it over-long, intently difficult and relatively obtuse in purpose and self-importance - (Welcome Back My Friend To The Show That Never Ends) - surely this track never ends. I also hate the fake carrib steel drums (and if they are real , I hate them also) in the third movement. Toccata is another of the re-working the classics and Bouncer is yet another ragtime piece - Boooring!!! Actually the only thing I can still ear is the Lake-penned Still, You Turn Me On - the obvious commercial track.

Best avoid starting with this album as this might put off the newcomers. In itself this is still a classic but to me , this is not essential and rarely listen to it .

What is this ?!? The Shoot-on-Chantraine-reviews-week ?!?!?

Yup I believe this is called plagiarim and this is even worse tham paraphrasing.

But do not take it away, as this is obviously a compliment. If the man pasted my views , it probably means he agrees with every word I said.

Wow ! Re-reading my review, this is really a classic one of mine. I give my review 5* but keep the album at 2*.
