Anyone's help is wonderful. I'm reading this poem that I have to include in a time writing exam, and I don't know what questions will be asked about it. I only need help analyzing its meaning.

and also

They're apparently somehow similar. There are about 10 more that I've read and have been able to decipher, but these last two I can't really find meaning or similarity. So far, all of these poems seem depressing.

Again, any help in analysis would be greatly appreciated. Especially from you, Vomps; you seem the poet type. Also, I think the first one is in reference to capitalist scum, but I can't be sure.

From what I can tell ... and this is totally my personal interpretation ... what I get from America is a question of what America is, the poet refers to themself as America at one point yet they are described in many ways that are considered "Un-American" (mairjuana-use, communist, etc.).

The second ones meaning is more obvious ... basically not succumbing to the inevitable (death) without a fight...

The similarity I see is perhaps a resistance to that which really we don't have any control over? To be that which we are not and call it that which we are? To be clear, I mean being more than is expected simply by not being what is expected ... again in America he claims he is America despite not being many things people associate with that. And in Thomas, he says,

"Grave men, who see, with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay"

is basically saying blind eyes can be amazing things when people view them as useless organs. Kind of strikes me as similar?

I don't think I'm expressing myself very well.

Who else though of Moshkito while reading this?

I play my dad's super nice Martin when I'm at home, otherwise I don't have an acoustic.

Somehow with all this pedal and music tech nonsense, I'm glad I own a simple but beautiful acoustic guitar.

Nah, not a KSE fan. The most mainstream HC stuff I'm into is The Ghost Inside.

Not all of Colorado is flat though, it has the Rockies...I was there a few days ago.  They put PA's mountains to shame. LOL

Oh I meant like to the Colorado lone. Yeah, for sure the east coast mountains can't even touch the rockies.
Though of course all the times I've driven a large part of PA I always think "god damn can't we level all these mountains!"

Glad it was so great man, now you have to be back home though
