I've never been a huge fan of Mr. Blackmore...in my opinion he's largely overrated as a player (he has a tendency to hit flat notes...) so his replacement with Steve Morse has never given me any problem at all.
However, being Jon Lord my favourite keyboards player, I feared that his absence on the last two recordings would have disappointed me...well, as a matter of fact it did not!
Don Airey is a very good performers and the albums are surprisingly good!
Keep up the good work, guys!

Abandon is by far the DP album that has impressed me the least.
Thus I'm going to vote for Slaves and Masters, although it isn't much of an effort.
(it has its moments, though: King of dreams, Wicked ways, Love hurts and Fire in the basement are very good IMHO, and Joe Lynn Turner is a fine singer, though Gillan and most of all Coverdale are far better)
By the way, my favourite DP album is Stormbringer (on with the boos), followed by the Fireball and Burn pair

With only two choices, proper grammar dictates, "Which one is the better one?" If there were three or more choices, you could ask, "Which one is best?" BTW, the answer is that 'Abandon' blows, and the best DP album is 'In Concert 1970/1972.' (Two weeks 'til what's left of DP at Radio City.)

Well damn, with a name like Slaves and Masters, how can you possibly go wrong?
