You'll only get a top 10 from me, since I'm not very familiar with a lot of the remaining subs. Wouldn't be fair to list them. And I'll exclude Proto-Prog and Prog Related as well, just so you know. Call me grumpy, but I'll add today's favourite ALBUM as a bonus Smile

1. Italian (Semiramis - Dedicato A Frazz)
2. Eclectic (King Crimson - Lizard)
3. Symphonic (Yes - Close To The Edge (pfft!))
4. Crossover (Supertramp - Crime Of The Century)
5. Heavy (Rush - A Farewell To Kings)
6. Folk (Strawbs - Hero and Heroine)
7. Canterbury (National Health - s/t)
8. Space/psych (Eloy - Dawn)
9. Neo (...I guess it's Script For A Jester's Tear)
10. Jazz-rock/Fusion (Area - Arbeit Macht Frei)

I am. Love The Pentangle. The not so high placing on my list has more to do with quantity than quality. Progfolk, like Zeuhl is not a very big genre. But I really love, Roy Harper, Pearls Before Swine, The Pentangle, Spirogyra, Conventum, Woven Hand, Ragnarok, Ptarmigan, Jan Dukes Degrey, Comus, Hoelderlin mm...

Check out Extradition (you can stream the full album). A band I suggested for adding once (but nothing happened). Stunning album.

Oh, I just wrote my favorite band from each genre.

Wouldn't pick Catherine Ribeiro, as the most representative although she's my favorite in psych/space. She might as well have been in Progfolk. Neither is Soft Machine the most fitting Canterbury band.

3. Prog Folk (Jethro Tull)
4. Prog metal (Tool)

To be honest its Just a load of Symphonic and Eclectic bands, all the obvious ones Crimson, Gensesis etc, then the Bands in brackets but not the genre. Basically I only like Symphonic prog and Eclectic prog, then some 10 or something other bands that are a different bit of prog.
My two favourite bands Are Gentle Giant and Jethro Tull, but Floyd, Genesis, Crimson, Yes, Rush, ELP and Camel are up there too, then Tool and Mars Volta.

Let the maps of war be drawn !

I only included genres that I feel I have sufficient knowledge of. No reason to put a genre in the list based on one band.

1. Tech/Extreme Prog Metal
2. Experimental/Post Metal
3. Eclectic Prog
4. Crossover Prog
5. Prog Related
6. Symphonic Prog
7. Progressive Metal
8. Post Rock/Math Rock
9. Neo-Prog
10. Heavy Prog
11. Proto-Prog
12. Prog Folk
13. RIO/Avant-Prog
14. Italian Symphonic Prog
15. Progressive Electronic

I guess I should listen to more of that Canterbury Scene that everyone seems to adore.

The bands would kill me trying to put em in, so no dice.

Nice to see everyone else's lists though, cool thread!
