Yes, it is Temppeliakuio Church in Helsinki. Heikki Sarmanto was born in Helsinki and the album was released on Finlandia Records.  Not that it matters, but my grandfather was born in Finland (but a Swedish Finn) -- he was stowed away on a ship to Australia after his father, a preacher, was shot.
Yeah that's what I thought, a few of my relatives have had their confirmation ceremony in that church, it's a very beautiful place, very unusual for a church. I've always sat on this balcony where the photo is taken from, I knew I'd seen this view before Smile

(I wish I knew more about my family history...)

On my mother's side, I only know some of the history going back to my great-grandfather (shot and killed by the Russians), but on my father's side, thanks to excellent records that were kept in England, I can trace my lineage back in England almost a thousand years.  Sadly, the only extended relative I've met, and but once, was my Australian grandmother.  My father had disowned his parents, but I still consider myself lucky to have known my parents and brothers.  I rather envy my wife because she had a big extended family to spend time with.  Sorry, that was long-winded for such a self-absorbed piece.

Anyway, it does look like a beautiful place.  I've long wanted to visit Finland.

Now listening, again, to Bobby Hutcherson's Cirrus.  "Even Later" must be one of the most beautiful pieces I've heard.  It rather surprises me that the album doesn't have higher ratings at rateyourmusic.  Although BH is not in the archives and so not applicable, sometimes it's fun to compare the ratings at RYM and PA.  I usually find that the RYM ratings (for albums that interest me) would come closer to mine.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.
