^ The Nemo lyrics are in French, but I still enjoy it enough that it is in my Top 5 for the year.

Hmm, I haven't as of yet, you're saying they're similar. I may have to check them out. Thanks for the recommendation Mike.

- The Thomas Tracks.....5Bridges (By large the best release of the year IMHO)
- Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê.......Magma (Not as great as KA, but still amazing)
- Out of the Tunnel's Mouth by Steve Hackett: Just got it,. but has climbed positions pretty soon.
- The Whirlwind.....Transatlantic (Surprise, great album by a band I never cared about)
- Progression by Failure......Progression by Faillure (Superb album that few noticed)
- Mundos Bizarros.....Flor de Loto (Each album is more solid han it's predecessor)
- The Form of the Good by Deluge Grander: Not as good as the previous, but still excellent.
Heard some more but don't remember them now, and the most expected one (The Incident) was a total disappointment for me.

Haven't heard much of the new music from 2009, being somewhat of a 70's snob. But I really liked Part of the Second by Maudlin of the Well, I was quite surprised by it actually. I'm looking forward to have a listen to Black Bonzo's new release as well (Guillotine Drama), I liked Sounds of the Apocalypse.

Um... Magma's, Cheer-Accident's, and Gong's. I still haven't gotten around to giving Gong's a proper listen.
I've heard very little from this year as I've been catching up on so much music from the 60's and 70's. However, there are various albums I want from this year -- Aranis', Led Bib', Present's, Miriodor's or something different from my usual fare. I hope to find one album that expands my musical horizons as I'm not progressing that much in terms of music appreciation. I mean, I ended up giving E-Re a five (which I may change), and that's re-hashing to a large extent. So I'm getting stale. I need something fresh, that sounds truly unique to my ears or gets me into a genre of music that I don't generally listen to. However, if it ain't smellin' fresh, I'll settle for something that smells funky.
EDIT: Noak's list is intriguing me.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I observed before. It can be much like that with music for me; immersed in experiencing the moment.

Still waiting to buy Magma's E-Re, that might be my flawless album of this year, considering how awesome it is live. Didn't know Morglbl released a new album. A good year for progressive stuff, not as good as 2007 but definitely much better than 2008.
EDIT: List updated.

2009 was a pretty good year for me, my favorites include:
1) Phideaux - Number 7
far ahead of the rest
2) Mew - No More Stories . . . 3) Agents of Mercy - The Fading Ghosts of Twilight 4) Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition 5) Muse - The Resistance 6) Porcupine Tree - The Incident 7) Derek Sherinan - Molecular Heinosity 8) Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings 9) IQ - Frequency 10) The Whirlwind - Transatlantic
mmm hmm, that's right, The Whirlwind gets number ten. When we get new Transatlantic and it only ranks tenth for the year . . . it's been a good year.
