Ya, isn't that amazing? And on an acoustic guitar no less! Actually the guy in the video reminded me most of Stanley Jordan, the jazzer who did a similar style of 2 handed tapping and became popular in the early/mid 80's. Their style is really to use tapping in a chordal way. As far as electric guitarists tapping a solo goes, I think the earliest one I'm aware of is Jimi Hendrix in 1968. I was shocked the 1st time I heard "Hey Joe" from the Live at Winterland CD...the intro is this free form kind of buildup and he's clearly tapping his brains out. I guess it's really not surprising though as he was such an out-of-the-box kind of player.
It's almost impossible to restrict my list to 30 songs, let alone 5. I guess I'll go with my instinctive first 10 favorites that come to mind (in no particular order):
- Cinema Show - One for the Vine - Mad Man Moon - Cul de Sac - Can Utility and the Coastliners - Domino (yes) - It's gonna get better (yes, again) - Musical Box - Burning Rope - Afterglow
Favorite album: A trick of the tail. Fantastic from start to finish.

Like a lot of people have said on this thread,your favourite songs change considerably over the weeks and months,but my first five are always the same (have been for years), and the latter five are from six to ten in the last few weeks, but are likely to change in the future.

Why have 5 (or 10) songs when you could have 20 (or more!).
Anyway, I don't think I have an exact order really, though I'll give it a go.

Overall, "...And Then There Were Three" is one of my favorite albums of all time.
I also really like "Silent Sorrow In Empty Boats".

1. "Supper's Ready" Hard to go against it. In this musical journey/exploration that's made up much of my life, I haven't found a greater song.
2. "The Musical Box" No transitions, but I love the massive dynamics and the feel. I even wish it was longer. I LOVE its ideas (musical)
3. "Firth of Fifth" My introduction to Genesis. The performances on here are all fantastic. Tony Banks is.. wait for it....... key.
4. "The Cinema Show" I love the transitions. It's got a magical feel, and then the 7/8 section is fantastic.
5. "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight" Dramatic. Many unique aspects plus excellent lyrics. Revolutionary Symphonic Prog, as are pretty much all these tunes are.
Not very in-depth explanations, but I'll leave that to reviews on their albums later. Just joined the forum!

No order of course, but the 2013 line up of Genesis songs would look like this.
10) Watcher of the Skies. (love that warm mellotron sound.)
9) Mama.(an electronic drum sound that really agrees with me.)
8) The 11th earl of Mar. (incredibly catchy chorus and terrific drumming.)
7) Cinema Show. ( Tony Banks is a wizard on keys in this one)
6) In The Cage. (thee most incredible Lyrics of any Genesis song right now for me.)
7) Dukes Travels ( terrific Instrumental. One of their best.)
8) Suppers Ready--The live version off 2nd's out/phill Collins( Genesis put together their greatest live performance of this song of all time. Nothing beats it, especially the remastered version by Nick Davis.)
9) Squonk. ( flat out. This song sounds amazing from start to end. Very balanced tune with some heavy lyric content.)
10) Domino--Live over Europe version in 2007. ( Chester's drums really bring this song to life when the Domino starts to Role. Meaning when the song picks up fast mid way through. ;)
Those choices I'd be comfortable with. As we all know here though, Genesis have an incredible catalog of songs to choose from. I think by next month my list could look a lot different due to all the wonderful things their are to appreciate in Genesis's large-spanning career. ;)

1. Watcher of the Skies (ba da da dum bum bum bum bum ba dum ba ba dum ba ba dump in your head all day)
2. Firth of Fifth (so many good feels from flute to guitar)
3. The Battle of Epping Forest (It just struck me as a really cool song with all of the perfect changes)
4. The Fountain of Salmacis (gave me the most extreme chills I have ever had)
5. Supper's Ready (MASTERPIECE)
6. Can-Utility and The Coastliners (another cool ass change and rhythm to it)
7. Cinema Show (connected all of the songs and wrapped up the album (Selling England by the Pound) as a whole)
If I was stranded on an island and the god of prog rock told me I could only listen to ten albums for the rest of my life, Foxtrot and Selling England by the Pound would be two of them. Prog Rock means all lot to me because it put meaning back into music. I will occasionally listen to pop but Prog is my life and Genesis is the perfect blend of both. Just a little bit of pop and good helping of prog.

I never heard them until they were a pop band. Then I discovered 'Lamb' and it blew my mind.
10. Mama 9. Turn It On Again (Their pop songs are great too...for pop songs.) 8. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (Love the keyboards.) 7. In the Cage (Favorite first line of any song... "I got sunshine in my stomach...") 6. Anyway (Vastly underrated) 5. The Carpet Crawlers (Awesome lyrics) 4. Fly On the Windshield ( Kind of like The Lamb meets Can-Utility) 3. Dancing With the Moonlit Knight (Incredible musical journey in a more compact song) 2. Firth of Fifth ( Supreme musicianship...especially the guitar solo) 1. Silent Sorrow On Empty Boats (Even though it looks like a bogus pick...it feels lika a breath of magic to me)
Honorable mention: Watcher of the Skies, The Lamia, The Colony of Slippermen, Wot Gorilla, Musical Box
I know my picks are too Lamb heavy to be taken seriously, but I really dig the explosion of creativity that occurred on their last joint effort with Gabriel. I'm still trying to digest 'Supper's Ready'.
