In my blog, I listed all of the different genres and the albums in the PA top 20 that I have from these genres.  I hit most of them but there are some that are limited to 0 to 4 of the albums.  In conversation, with either BaldJean or BaldFriede I think that we determined that our tastes are about as opposite as two prog fans tastes can be.  Whereas they really like Gong, I find Gong to be too weird for my tastes.  In actuality, now that Angel's Egg is over, it wasn't too bad.  It had some pretty good parts scattered throughout the very strange parts.  If I were to put it in the regular rotation it might grow on me.

BTW, currently playing on the Shred Room stereo is Angel's Egg from Gong.  I suppose that I ought to be a little open-minded.

Yeah, I can understand that. Weird voices took me a while to get into way back when I was getting into Magma. I took a 6 month break from them back then since I liked the music but couldn't get into the voice. In the meantime I heavily discovered Frank Zappa, which seemed to open a door for me... since when I went back to Magma after that half a year break, I was absolutely blown away.

Since then, I've never had any musical or vocal troubles of any kind. Sometimes certain aspects of a band or certain bands can take some persistence, and not everything is to my taste entirely, but I'm glad I wasn't too stubborn. Then again, I definitely think that wouldn't work for everyone.

Perhaps you should branch out a bit, but it seems like your taste is pretty good to mine. I've never noticed any closed-mindedness either, and at least you're willing to give anything a try, so there's nothing critical on mind.

Gong is fantastic, by the way. I'd say that's pretty open-minded right there. Thumbs%20Up

That does sound pretty good. I'll have to do that then! Thanks!

Have you heard any Koenji?

And, don't worry, I won't really... I have the Suede Room all the time to play things like that if I really want to hear it. I'm not going to bother you guys with it; all you have to do is walk next door. Wink

I should probably hear it then (especially with the Rush comparison).

I've never heard Saga, so I don't know. My tastes are pretty broad and cover all across the prog spectrum, however. Wink

I'm not much for vegetarian pizza per se, but from time to time I will order pizza with just green peppers or just green peppers and onions.  If you'd like I can get some more veggies on the other half for you. Wink  We can even drink some of that Shropshire Lad that you mentioned yesterday.

its dead mean that you open up a nice new room for your age group, and yet no-one joins the party, Scotty...Disapprove

although if the pizza is vegetarian, I might just come back and help you demolish it...Big%20smile
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Since I am the only one here and playing DT didn't work so well I decided to throw in the new Asia album.  The proggers are confused and feel that they can only secretly enjoy it while outwardly sneering at the idea of Asia reforming.

I suppose part of it might be my fault.  I did have Awake from Dream Theater blasting from the speakers and I suppose that that is more likely to deter the 30-somethings, and attract some of the riff raff Wink from the Suede Room.

The voices said "build the shred room and they will come" but it appears that the voices were mistaken.  I guess that Pat was right in his assessment that thirty somethings have nothing to talk about.
